Missing Wivenhoe kayaker found
3rd March 2011

A MISSING 32-year-old man and his dog have just been found after they failed to return from a kayaking trip to Wivenhoe Dam yesterday.

The man and his dog went out on the dam on a four-metre kayak and had not been heard from since around 2pm. An initial search by the family failed to find the man.

Police co-ordinated a search at first light today with assistance from water police, SES staff, volunteers marine vessels and a rescue 500 chopper.

The man was spotted by the chopper and both he and his dog are safe and well.

Good result.
I assume when the storms rolled through he found a lee shore and it was probably to dark to head home by the time they had passed.

SEQ Water gunna be happy about the dog!

Must have Wes. Tide wasn't right according to Steve. Try early next week when they are better.
