Back to the Duck Pond
« on: August 14, 2011, 06:38:24 PM »
Had a fish at the duck pond yesterday and had a ball :thumbsup I started with a edge bite amongst the lilly's using a Husky Jerk in Glass minow colour Landed about a dozen or so and a sleepy cod which was a first for me.

Then as the afternoon rolled on a I located a big school of quality fish with the Humminbird 798 SI  where I've found them in past years and caught them on Fly and Ima Jigs. It was a fish a cast for about an hour with which ever I decided to cast at them.

Being able to hole position with the Minn Kota I-pilot is a real bonus with schooled fish you don't have to do anything but fish.

Awesome fun at a great lil dam.

Have you heard of any Saratoga in there PD? I sighted one in the sticks there years back & never saw another.

Cheers,

Fitz..

Paulo yeh my first Sleepy cod, apparently there are quite a few in there and I love finding schools like that one you know straight away it's game on especially on fly cause they just cant resist a fly twiched through them..

Fitz funny you should ask that, when I was catching the bass around the edges I think I spooked one as I went in to get a bass out of the lilly's,only a few meters in front of me were those 2 tell tale little whirl pools the toga leave when they take off and I instantly thought of toga.
I would love to see a few thousand in there it would be a great location for them they love that sort of country.

We we advised about this dam a week ago some yakkers where fishing the school bass in the evening and where pulling around 20/30 each evening, we had already pass it and we decided not too travel backwards. Adding it too the do list later in the year.
