Murray River Fishing.
« on: January 17, 2012, 02:34:27 PM »
While we were holidaying down south, I borrowed my nephew's boat for a few days.  We were on the Murray River between Rutherglen and Parolas Bridge.
The trailer was made in 1961, the boat is a slightly newer De Haviland Speed Topper, and I think the 'rude is an '80's vintage 8hp.

He gave me paddles, in case the motor broke down.  These are made from plastic white markers from the side of the road attached to an old shovel handle.

The hull integrity has obviously deteriorated since the 1960's allowing plenty of water to find it's way to the inside instead of remaining on the outside.

The ramp facilities could be described as rudementary.

I did manage a 50cm Cod on a lump of cheese while we were there though.

Dale

I fish because the little voices in my head tell me to.
