Qld Protected Area Management Plans - Submission opportunity

Protected Area Management Plans

A number of draft management plans have been prepared, based on previous public consultation, for:
•  Mount Jim Crow National Park
•  Capricorn Coast National Park
•  Causeway Lakes Conservation Park
•  Keppel Sands Conservation Park
•  Flat Top Range Resources Reserve
•  MacKenzie Island Conservation Park
•  Danbulla National Park
•  Capricornia Cays National Park
•  Capricornia Cays National Park (Scientific)
•  Smithfield Conservation Park
•  Mount Whitfield Conservation Park
•  Kamerunga Conservation Park
•  Great Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park adjoining QPWS managed estates.

The draft management plans outline management directions aimed at protecting the special natural and cultural values of these areas, while encouraging a range of recreation and commercial opportunities.

Submissions are invited on the draft management plans. Copies may be inspected or obtained free of charge during normal business hours at Department of Environment and Resource Management business centres across the state.

The closing date for submissions is Monday March 12, 2012

Submissions van be made online at www.getinvolved.qld.gov.au, emailed to parkplans@derm.qld.gov.au or posted to:

All submissions will be considered when preparing the final management plans. Once approved, the final management plans will specify how these protected areas and any adjoining Great Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park will be managed into the future.

One could be cynical and say as the greenies reckon global warming is going to destroy the reefs in most of those areas, with them being gone in less than 50 years, why bother
?

Dave and I got a dozen bass each from the Bremer last night, no threadies. Only problem was the hot bite period was from midnight to 3am....on my 4th coffee at work now.
