Long believed to be extirpated from the catchment but still present in a couple of suitable small streams.
Shows what would be possible for ALL catadromous and amphidromous fish if a working fishway was fitted in place of the 19th century relic currently in place.

Just got back from north Queensland and saw some great fishways (mainly rock ramps + others) that have been installed on some long needing em creek systems in recent times - very heartening, though much of the work was done by the now disbanded Qld Fisheries fishway team  :(

Always carry some rods mate no matter where I am  ;D - caught a few small barra and tarpon and lost a decent one to line failure  :-X - just checking copyright situation and I'll post a couple of associated fishway reports with pictures - here's a hint tho, sweetwater barra and jack fishing should should really pick up in Alligator Ck (south of Townsville) in the next couple years :thumbsup
