Title: Home Made Lures
Post by: Baz on September 21, 2010, 08:20:11 PM
I make a few of my own lures at home to save a few bob and to pass time between fishing trips. Here's a few pics of some. Would like to see some pics of other home made lures .

Thats some fancy paint jobs you have going there!! I have been tinkering with an airbrush prior to the rain but have a long way to go to be 1/2 as good as those beauties!!!  Keep up the good work!!

Great work Baz, very impressive indeed.

Me? I'm a hack tho I've caught fish on some of the lures I made years back. I really struggle for time on making anything these days but have a gazzilion ideas & thoeries bouncing around in my head. (don't we all).

Maybe one day I'll knock a few up.

Nice work Baz, love the look of some of those big bibbed ones.
Well done on the finnish too, you seem to have that airbrush sussed out.

Thanks for the comments Fella's. The finish comes down to some good Auto Acrylic and a few lessons on airbrushing from an old hand at it.
The patterns on these lures aren't hard to create, most of you will have the "templates" I use sitting around the house.

Still lookin for some pics of other members home mades......... 8) ;D. There must be some out there somewhere.!!

Cheers'

There's a few kicking around Baz, but there's still a couple of thousand members to re-join as yet.

I just love the aussie made timber lures. Been stopping at every tackle store I drive past in country Victoria / NSW looking for locally made stuff. Picked up a couple of new ones today (just cant help myself)

Cheers,

fitz..

Hey Baz they are really excellent looking lures there mate - superb paint jobs a real pro look. You'll have to twist Jas's (Nicho) arm to post some photos of his work. A different "style" of lure and a bit of humour in his paint work but best of all they catch fish. Go on Jas your too modest mate post some pics - calling Dots.R.Us.com.......Pat.

thanks for the comments guys,
I enjoy making them, and it gives myself and my son a lot of quality time together testing them on the water.

I met pam at the expo sunday arvo, she got a couple of the very few leftovers.......the small pinkish one is a great fishtaker( I get a lot of bass on them), hope they get her a fish :youbeauty
I am going to make pam a couple of lures as a gift for her papua new guinea trips.....its great to meet  people  that actually.... fish lures! not hang them in a cupboard......as a maker(small time backyard hacker) every lure is made with the intention of catching a fish......if it doesnt do it for me in the test tank....its firewood..... I can appreciate the people who collect them also, but its dissapointing after all the effort to get them right...only to find out they will never see the water.
thanks for the kind comments, and fitzy i will put up a thread when time allows...cheers
