Dear stakeholder,
The Eastern Boat Ramp at Hinze Dam will re-open to the public from 6am Friday 4th October 2013.
As you may be aware, the Eastern Boat Ramp recreation area (off Range Road) was closed in January 2013 due to a landslip on the internal access road. The necessary rectification works have been completed, allowing the site to be re-opened from this Friday.
The Western Boat Ramp recreation area (off Nerang-Murwillumbah Road) will remain open to the public during opening hours (6am to 6pm).
Note – fuel-powered vessels are not permitted on the lake at Hinze Dam.

You beauty more exploring to be done.Hope it will fish as well as the western arm is. Went there yesterday and got 28 bass over 40 cm and 2 around 35.

Jeez u did well was that baiting the schools?
I can't get those numbers or sizes out of the hinze. I usually happy with 10 or so fish up to 30. But that is luring the edges.

There are some drongos about that do not have a clue apart from trying to destroy things.
We went there on Wednesday and thought that we would have to drive back around to the western arm. When the security guy turned up he could not remove the locking pin from the gate because some moron had given the gate a nudge and bent the frame.
Luckily Rick had a gympie hammer in his tool box and we were able to drive the pin out.
The ramp itself is much more user friendly than the Western Arm with a shorter reverse to launch and the parking area is closer and the incline to the parking area is also less.
Toilet block is also a long uphill hike from the ramp.
We initially bait fished with live shrimp and caught 20 bass in first hour before the went off the bite. Then spent 3 hours trolling and searching before we found another school and got into them before we ran out of bait.
Bandies just as plentiful as western arm.
Will be moving our shrimp traps from western arm next week as its a easier drive to get there.Just have to sus it out a little more.
