Title: 2 wet, 2 cold, now 2 hot, bassing.
Post by: dinodadog on January 11, 2013, 07:12:58 AM
To many excuses, these have all been used over the past and yesterday was no different. It got that hot out in the tinnie I could not touch any part of the boat without getting burnt so I headed in early.
Trolled down and back up the dam for zilch and thats what I seen on the sounder. Applied the fish finders and was on to fish right away. With a bit of gentle persuasion the shrimp tend to call the fish in from outside the sonar reading on the sounder. There would be nothing on the sounder one second then you would see a arch appear and a bite right away.
First up a nice yella followed by 26 bass most of which were in the 40+ cm models. All released to get bigger.

I don't know if you've heard of a machine the yanks use called a Hydrowave Dino, but it puts out a noise into the water mimicking shad or shrimp.  I think Steve Morgan is playing around with one at the moment.  I have played around with loud music as an attractant at both Wivenhoe and Awoonga and got some pretty amazing results.  Steady rhythmic sounds seem to attract fish, especially Forkies in Wivenhoe.  The Bass will be hanging just a little further out.

and yes you either should have a medal, or a head examination for being out in a tinnie yesterday!

Thanks fellas I did hear about the fish caller. Mine is a length of dowel, every time you think the shrimp are having a sleep you give your line a couple of tweeks, works for me.I'd rather be getting them on lures though. At least I can get my lure fix in the river and creeks.
