Hi Everyone,
A researcher has asked for assistance with determining the distribution of Redclaw Crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) in SE Qld. So, I'm asking everyone to post up locations where you know redclaw are found. I'd like to go one step further and create a database of all Redclaw Crayfish distribution where ever they are found.
Photos will help as well. Also, in river / stream situations, a specific location will help. Example: Condamine River, upstream of town weir at Warwick, OR upper Brisbane River, Linville.
Prefer confirmed locations, as opposed to "my neighbours mate's mechanic said he caught them in the Snowy River.
If you're not sure if the crayfish you've found are redclaw, post up a photo here & we will try to ID it & add to the database.
Simply reply to this topic with your location & we will extract your info from there.
Many thanks,
Fitzy..

Somerset Dam obviously, but they don't seem to appear up the rivers and creeks. Prefer the open dam.

They were starting to appear in Glenlyon this time last year when I was there. No great numbers but still there.

I do know that some were stocked into a dam on a horse stud along Innisplain Road near Rathdowney approx 5 years ago. Approx 1.5k's from the turn off from Mt Lindsay highway, property on the eastern side (left heading away from Mt Lindsay Highway).
Redclaw last seen crossing the road to the western side which backs onto the upper parts of the Logan River during a rather large rain downpour...Gentleman who stocked them wasn't happy lol. May have gone wild from there, or still be living in some of the local paddock dams. Unknown now, but there were there.

Hello Sweetwater (Fitzy)
From a former researcher.
Not being cynical but this researcher who approached you bona fide (legit) with an established organisation e.g. University, CSIRO, DPIF, GO or NGO or just wanting to know where to catch them?
Cheers, Bondy
