Proposed changes to radio laws for recreational users. Smart move in my opinion.

Just had a bit of a look at some of the responses. Looks like the proposal has upset some of the old guard. I wonder how much of the current traffic on the network is actually from licenced operators?

Pity really, chance to reform what no one could claim was a useful system and they want the status quo, because they think smoky and the bandit might take over their private domain.

Me I'd just like people to be able to carry a VHF for safety reasons. (which by the way I do, I figure if they want to fine my ass when they come and rescue me after I call up, more than happy to pay it.)

I agree Binder I too carry VHF for safety reasons when they rescue me have the ticket book handy the qualification is ridiculous, and unnecessary in my opinion just because you have the qualification and the licence doesn't mean you won't miss behave on the VHF band and visa versa.
