Title: EMFMI. Update on Baroon Pocket and EMD.
Post by: Bracey on August 12, 2011, 09:27:20 AM
After this months meeting, those who attended had thoughts requesting DEEDI for the increase of the Mary River Cod numbers at Baroon Pocket from 500 per annum to 1000 which they amended for us after being in contact with Steven Brooks last week, however they do recommend to stock 500 a year. The advantage of being able to stock a maximum of 1000 MRC is being able to stock greater numbers of MRC if they are unavailable in lean years. The only other species are permissible to be stocked in Baroon Pocket is Australian Bass with a maximum number of 79 000 fingerlings per annum. For your information, Baroon was last stocked back in 2006.

The Permit application form to stock crown land and signage of the amended 5 year management plan for both EMD and Baroon has been completed and I'm pretty confident in due course we'll have a positive outcome for both fisheries.

This is huge milestone for our group as we look forward to stocking both fisheries, come years end.

Thanks Dave

Well done to you & the rest of the EMFMI Dave  :yourock
With a bit of luck, in a few years time we will have another couple of top class fisheries on our doorstep.

Cheers Andrew
