Toowoomba's Dam levels
« on: December 22, 2010, 12:17:44 PM »
Good to see Toowoomba's dam levels slowly trending upwards with this rain lately too. The combined totals for Cooby , Creesbrook and Perserverance is now 43.1%.

I got this info from this link :

Cheers,

You'd think with all the money spent on the pipeline and pumping station at Wivenhoe to puch the water up to Cressbrook that it'd be full by now.  Oh wait, that's right, it didn't work did it.  More money down the recycled water pipe.

Does anyone really know how much the pipeline to Cressbrook cost? Its capacity?

I do remember seeing Captain Bligh with her hard hat at some grand opening of it on TV awhile back , funny how all has gone quiet about the said pipeline .

Politicians are like nappies , they need to be changed regularly for the same reason !!

Cheers,
Dave.

Good to see Leslie Dam at Warwick on the rise too Dave. Just checked it's levels yesterday at 64%.

Last time I saw Leslie, it was at 6% and you could have thrown a rock across one bank to the other in some places if you had a good arm.

Things are looking brighter. Got on the dog and bone to wish family friends out at Goondiwindi a Merry Xmas yesterday and they are receiving their fare share out there too. Apparenty there is plenty of Yella's and Cod being caught out that way and the rivers are looking sensational.

Cheers Dave

Quote
While Wivenhoe is above capacity the pipe will pump up to 60 megalitres a day, double what is currently being pumped.

Quote
Mayor Peter Taylor hailed the decision as a major win for Toowoomba and the $187 million Wivenhoe pipeline.

Quote
Since opening on January 28, the Wivenhoe Pipeline has delivered more than 4000 megalitres to Cressbrook Dam at an average of 47 megalitres a day.

Drove over Perseverance again on Thurs evening, it is still way down, at least 8-10 meters of stain showing on the pump tower. Interestingly there was a orange/brown scum on the water possibly a algal bloom ???

Combined totals for these 3 dams is now 62.5 % . Along with Lake Clarendon , I think they'd be the last of SE QLD's dam's yet to spill.

7th January 2011

UPDATE: Perseverance Dam flowed over the spillway at 2.05pm today for the first time in almost 10 years.

Significant rainfall in the area both yesterday and today pushed the level from 97 per cent this morning to overflowing early in the afternoon.

Perseverance Dam last spilled on February 21, 2001.

This water flows down Perseverance Creek directly into Lake Cressbrook which is currently at around 56% capacity.

Spillage from Perseverance Dam into Lake Cressbrook will accelerate the filling of Lake Cressbrook and it is anticipated that all storage dams will reach near full capacity in the near future.

Currently, the combined storage level of Toowoomba’s three dams is sitting at around 70%.

The last time dams were at this level was July 18, 2002. Cooby Dam is currently around 71% capacity.

The last time the combined dam level reached 100% was on March 21, 1999, with Cooby Dam spilling on February 5 and Cressbrook Dam on March 21 that year.

Dam levels are expected to continue to rise due to runoff and forecast showery weather over the weekend.

I heard this morning that Somerset is at 150% and Wivenhoe is at 140%.  Our fish release for tomorrow has been postponed.

Hi Dale

Were you planing on releasing another batch of fingerlings into Sommerset and Wivenhoe?
If so, when do you plan to do it now?

Cheers Adrian
