Had to have a crack after Dave posted some pics of some quality bass over the last week. On Friday launched from Coalfalls and headed upstream. Think I passed UBK and Woodji near the launch? but I wanted to head upstream as far as possible so pushed on. Went over quite a few sets of rapids which wasn't easy with no footwear and a 4.5m kayak (I'm not the smartest cookie!). Think I ended up just before One Mile where I couldn't get up a narrow, steep and very fast flowing set of rapids. On the way landed approx 10 smaller bass and 2 around the 50 mark. Whilst trying to get a photo of the first big one, dropped my camera overboard when it went ballistic (hence no photos!).
Tried the section around Sydney Street this afternoon. Landed 4 bass around 30-40, and got smoked big time on the bend downstream from the bridge. That section is still very tidal as I found out trying to get back up the bank after the water had dropped at least a metre.
Got most of the bass on a suspending Rapala rattling crank, with pauses getting more strikes. Pretty cool getting some nice bass so close to home!

Geez Noddy, I'd be going ballistic if I dropped my Camera overboard...
Did you take the Ultra? You need to get something smaller in the fleet...
Cheers

Yep that was us more than likely, not a bad area for some good size fish and close to home great!
If you keen next weekend we will be exploring and making a day of it.
will be putting in at daylight prob Saturday.
If your keen we can meet.
I went upstream today at about 10.30am, only out for about an hour and only got one little bass. :(

:Clap) How good is that !!!
I have been talking to StevenM, the next 'challenge' will be............Who can get a photo of a Bass from the city reach( near RiverLink/Trumpy bridge area).
Cheers,
Dave.

Took the Tempo which at least is a lot lighter than the Ultra. But a smaller kayak is definitely going to happen in the near future.
The camera was a cheapie $50, but I was a little irate at the time ;).
Woodji, I have promised to take my father-in-law in the stinkboat Saturday. If things change though I will let you know, Bremer bass rock!
Good challenge Dave! Catch a bass outside BCF, and if you run out of lures duck up and get some more! Forgot to say that some local bogans were playing battleships with me as well under the bridge. Ahh Ipswich...

I thought it was a nice touch by the locals passing by from cars on the bridge, yelling out things like,"You won't f%$%en catch anything in there!"
It made me giggle.

I got two on buzz baits this arvo just on dark. For a change I actually out fished Steve and Dave. Only little tackers today and they were hard to come by, not exactly on the chew this arvo.

Nice paddle mate ;) Got the same one, Love it!
Good to see the little tackers around though, I hope this river keeps on keeping on!
