Title: Location Suggestions Please!
Post by: Bracey on December 22, 2011, 05:23:52 PM
Planning a trip to Mackay very, very soon and need suggestions to spend a couple of nights between Monto and Mackay to break the trip up somewhat.

Any suggestions will be carefully concidered.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers Dave

Dave,
Cania and Callide come to mind immediately, If you go through the back way via Emerald then there's Fairbairn Dam, Nogoa Riv, Theresa Crk Dam and a number of sizable streams. If you are going via Rocky, then the Fitzroy above the barrage, a number of lakes around Yeppoon/Emu Park, ride the tide at St Lawrence, a couple of nice creeks near Sarina......
you won't be lost for choices if there's a Yak hiding in the tinnie :))

Cheers Brad,

This time last year I fished Wuruma and would like to fish Cania and have a look at the gorge there this year. So we'll be heading north from Cania. I keep on getting drawn to Rocky for some reason. We are on a time schedule to meet friends at Mackay, so we don't want to divert to far off the northward track.

Callide looks great too and had thought of ringing Trev to see how it has been fishing.

Thanks Dave.

Depending what you are into, try lake elphinstone. There are free hot showers, toilets and heaps of camping spots.

Hi Dave, Cania was going off a fortnight ago, 35 fish for about 5 hours fishing. Have fun wherever you end up. Happy New Year mate.

Thanks Andrew, did you find them still schooled up or were they spread out? Any places worth fishing on lake rather than others, keen to eliminate areas to keep my boys interested on the boat for as long as possible?

Cheers Dave
