Youngs Crossing?
« on: September 25, 2010, 06:24:29 PM »
Hi all,

Went for a drive to the back of Petrie on Pine this afternoon and found a couple of skinny puddles that looked a little fishy.  These are not the ponds in Mungurra Reserve they are closer to Youngs Crossing Rd.  Access whilst overgrown is possible from the public footpath running parrallel to the creek, I have fished them years back from the farm side of the creek but was wondering if it is legal to do so.  Not sure how many fish if any would be there but interested to have a flick.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Colin

Hey Colin,

From memory before the Sweetwater site crashed and a lot of info was lost. Some local boys posted up reports of good Bass being caught along that stretch of the river, yet having greater success at night using surface lures such a the Jitterbugs in the black colour. They were also landbased pushing their way through the scrub and undergrowth of the trees that lined the riparian zone.

I personally haven't fished that area for years, but I'm sure if you have a bit of an adventureous spirit you'll find a way to get a kayak up there.

Here's another site other than Google Earth to find yourself a possible launching site. www.nearmap.com

Cheers Dave
