Title: Taking the kids
Post by: Slates on January 20, 2013, 10:07:39 PM
Had a great day without catching a fish today. Took my 4 yr old lad Max out today on the Barwon River in Geelong with a fist full of bread hoping for a carp or three. It was a cracking day at 26C but the carp were very toey and hard to tempt just pecking at most baits. I'd almost forgotten how exciting a bite can be until I watched Max bolt to the rod pointing and hunched on his knees waiting for the next one. Max pretty much spent his time talking, poking ants, whacking sticks and asking when we'd catch a fish but we both had plenty of fun. I was surprised he lasted that long as we put some hours in.
Anyone else had a day out with the kids recently?

Good on you Slates, mine are getting a bit big for such simple pleasures, but still enjoy to odd trip with my daughter who isn't quite totally addicted to computers etc like the older two now are.

Great stuff Slates. Max is growing up waaaaay too fast mate.  ;D

I take my two down the river every second weekend; swimming, paddling, throwing stones etc Santa bought the 5 y/o girl her first fishing rod for Xmas and so far she's been only practicing in the yard with a plug but is keen as buggery to get down with a real lure or bait. Told her when she can cast properly she can do the real deal so she gets out on the lawn scaring the beejeezers out of everything living with casts going in all directions...a bit like me really.
