Cressbrook, Perseverance Dams closed to boating

Cressbrook and Perseverance Dams are closed to all boating and water-based activities until further notice.

Water is flowing over the dams' spillways following inflows from this week's rain across the catchment.

Toowoomba Regional Council has activated requirements of its Emergency Action Plan Cressbrook Dam and Perseverance Dam, which prohibits various public uses when water over the dams' spillways exceeds 100mm.

Water spilling from Perseverance Dam will add to the other inflows to Cressbrook Dam. This is expected to continue for several days.

Cressbrook Dam's camping and picnic areas remain open for public use along with fishing from the lake shore.

Council is reviewing the situation daily.

All recreational users can visit Loveday Cove at Cooby Dam.

Cooby Dam wall picnic area remains closed due to damage suffered during the 2011 flooding.

Boating allowed at Cressbrook Dam

Boating enthusiasts can resume leisure activities at Cressbrook Dam.

Toowoomba Regional Council today (July 26) re-opened the dam to boating following last week's temporary ban.

The safety precaution was triggered when water flowed over the spillway following inflows from rain across the catchment.

The dam level has dropped sufficiently to allow boats to return to the dam.

All recreational users also can visit Loveday Cove at Cooby Dam.
