Lake Borumba temporarily closed to swimming, water skiing & other in-water activities

Date:  13/01/2014    - SEQWater advise the following:

As a precautionary measure and in the interest of public safety, Lake Borumba will be temporarily closed to primary contact water-based recreation activities from Monday, 13 January 2014 due to the presence of blue-green algae.

Primary contact recreation activities include swimming and water skiing.

Boating, kayaking, canoeing and sailing can still be undertaken on Lake Borumba.

Seqwater has undertaken water quality testing and the results indicate the lake should be closed.
For further information please see the Seqwater blue-green algae fact sheet (http://www.seqwater.com.au/sites/default/files/PDF%20Documents/Publications/Blue-green%20algae%20fact%20sheet%20Oct2011.pdf).

We will continue to perform water quality testing at Lake Borumba, and the lake will be re-opened to all water-based recreation activities when test results indicate that it is appropriate to do so.
