Hydro Tasmania warns of high flows in Cataract Gorge

Hydro Tasmania wishes to advise that flows down the Cataract Gorge will increased to approximately 25 cumecs commencing at 5am on Thursday morning (27 August). This is 10 times the normal flow in the gorge.

The increased flow is part of a trial that will investigate if a controlled release of water from the Trevallyn Dam, silt raking and strong tide events to investigate ways to reduce siltation in the upper Tamar River.

Please take care if in the Cataract Gorge area as the flow and water levels may fluctuate.
