Private Dams stocked for public fishing

Since the implementation of the Farm Dam Stocking for Public Fishing policy the IFS has stocked 23 private dams on eight individual private properties along the North West Coast for public fishing. The dams are located between Thirlstane in the east to West Ridgley in the west. IFS staff have successfully released fingerling and yearling brown trout into the dams. Locations of the dams and access arrangements (Most dams are access by prior permission) and will be published on the IFS website in the near future.

The IFS would like to thank the landowners involved for allowing their dams to be stocked. Anglers are reminded that access is a privilege not a right and that they should observe all warnings and access requirements on the signs at each dam entry point. In general foot access only is permitted. Anglers should not park over gates, litter, light fires, take pets or camp.
