Title: Baroon Pocket Stocking 19/1/12
Post by: Binder on January 19, 2012, 02:17:50 PM
Today, Ewen Maddock Fish Management Inc stocked Baroon Pocket with Australian bass, the first stocking in to the dam for 12 years. We picked this dam up as a secondary site for stocking as it is to good a fishery to let die.  Officially 15,000 Australian Bass courtesy of Bill Proctor went in today. Those of you aware of Bills generosity would not be surprised to hear it was an extremely generous 15,000. Bill did both Ewen Maddock and Baroon Pocket for us in the one trip.

We were disappointed at the funding we were able to obtain from DEEDI for Baroon Pocket, receiving only an additional $500 for the second dam on our permit. Fortunately the boys were successful in obtaining a $2000 grant from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council to make the numbers we could stock more respectable!

Baroon has risen nearly 1.5m in the last 3 days with all the rain, being just below spillway level when we did the release. I hope the bass dont mind swimming down 1.5m to hide in the weed beds around the ramp area!

My son managed to snavel the Camera and take a few photo's of me, thats me modeling the new fisheries fishcare volunteer shirt in the last photo. Much more refined than the canary yellow old one!
