Lake Borumba temporarily closed to all water-based recreation activities

Date:  28/01/2014  - SEQWater

As a precautionary measure and in the interest of public safety, Lake Borumba will be temporarily closed to all water-based recreation activities from 6.00 pm on Tuesday, 28  January 2014 due to the presence of blue-green algae.

Frequent users of the lake would be aware it was temporarily closed to primary contact activities earlier this month, and only re-opened last Saturday 25th January 2014; however, the most recent test results indicate that the blue-green algae bloom has intensified, resulting in the closure of the lake to all water-based recreation activities.

For further information please see the Seqwater blue-green algae fact sheet.

SEQWater will continue to perform water quality testing and will advise when we have further results. The lake will be re-opened to water-based recreation activities when test results indicate that it is appropriate to do so.
