Spent the last week camping at Cania with my daughter, father and Trev, was a weekend of first for everyone including the weather which was absolutely perfect.

My daughter caught her first bass (30cm) and the biggest bass for the week 43cm, plus a few spangled perch using live shrimp, adults were restricted to chucking lures. My dad caught his first of many bass with the biggest being 40cm, spangled, and a toga 53cm.

The averaged was around 8 fish per morning session, with Trev having one exceptional afternoon session with 30+ bass, while showing Paul a visitor at the caravan park how to locate and target bass, incidentally Paul was pretty happy when he managed 3 for the afternoon. I also managed an afternoon session with Trev when I delegated my parental duties to grandad and got done by a horse of a bass.  Trev also caught a 3.5kg yellow belly while pitching lures to the shallows.

I’ve heard around the traps that Cania doesn’t have any red claw, well I guess someone forgot to tell this 'monster' he was in the wrong dam and to keep out of my shrimp traps. So how big to red claw get????

Regards
Earl

That's the way to bring up your kids Earl; get 'em catching Bass. My son still remembers the first Bass he caught and he's 32 now. By the way that is a serious redclaw, and the 'Toga doesn't look half bad either.
Cheer,
JD

Thanks for the report Earl, will make sure I pack the claw traps for my visit to Cania.
Well done to your daughter for the fish & to you for taking her fishing.

Cheers Andrew
