OK Fitz

I will get the ball rolling

May I pay $100 and fish both tourneys?

So slip down the river, smack a bass, roll back to the pond and grab another and present both pictures at the checkin on my camera card?

Notice how I said bass, I have a problem with bycatch.

You will need to take 2 pictures per fish; one of the fish on the ruler & one of the location. EXIF data well tell us the rest.  :youbeauty

Just need to make sure it's the river fish Vs river fish & same for the lake.

Hi Chris,

No, this event is for kayak and canoe only, however you can have electric powered kayak or canoe.

There is plenty of event around for outboard or electic powered boats.

Cheers,

Adding the river as a stand alone section is a great idea. Good for the little kayaks that would never be suitable for the open lake and those with the fragile expensive rigs can happily still fish the lake. Just which to one to pick? River or lake?

A good idea folks and a timely reminder to secure a site ASAP.

I have reserved the whole of Capt Logans Camp and some sites at Lumley Hill for the event and will be getting a list of what sites are booked.

SEQWater advise that there are a couple of drive-on sites left at Lumley Hill camping area (next camp site area over). If these are not booked soon they will be released to the public for that weekend.

* When booking, be sure to mention you're part of the event to get the group discount.

BTW- I have booked 2 sites that are not on the list posted above.

I had a session on the dam today. The past three times I have been at least one person has caught a yellow belly, and some bass. Perfect for the points scoring for the comp...The dam just might be the place to fish to get amongst the finishing places

Folks

Garry has confirmed on the Event Facebook Page that one of the local Lions Clubs will be doing the food both nights so no need to cook a meal each night. Just rock up and have a chat and a good feed for a fair price.

River for me, but starting to think I will be doing a point to point. Flying solo this year, my wife has to sit this one out.

Is the Steve still crowing about attempting the double ( dam and river each day )?

I might do the same, $50 is good for more fish in the dam...

Yes, can enter twice to get into draw for both kayaks.  :youbeauty
And in theory fish one day on river & the other day on the lake, but points AND prizes for both locations will be separate to keep everyone happy.

Thanks Sel.  :youbeauty And appreciate you helping to keep in touch with the kayak groups regarding the 2012 event.

We've been loading up entry forms into the data base (another 5 arrived in PO box this morning), so far there's a good mix between the 2 events.

There's a random kayak up for grab for each location (lake & river)  so I won't give too specific information.

Also have duplicated the 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes (points) so there equal for each location .....some noice prizes up for grabs there including Humminbird color units +........  ;)

Im excited, I'm really looking forward to the weekend, I have been talking to alot of people that have said the river is not fishing as well as previously. I think the fishing will depend on the day, (climate is what you plan for and weather is what you get..) I fished both days this weekend and did pretty well, be assured there are fish there. With the skills you guys have got, the dam will fish as well as it can.

I'm looking forward to catching up with like minded fishos :youbeauty :thanks

Thanks in advance for your effort Fitzy and the Sweetwater team. Bring it on!

Yep Craig, I couldn't agree more, the river is fishing very tough. I'm hoping the winds play ball as I think there are larger fish in the dam and ones that don't see a lure thrown at them in a river continuously all day since bass opening. I can't believe that you have to troll in that river to catch fish. I thought there would be an edge bite for sure.

Anyway, for me it depends on the forecast, I will have dam kayak and a creek one with me on the weekend, I will fish the river if I am forced to by the weather...

Cheers

Well

I am entered in both comps so no reason why I cant fish the river in the morning, have some smoko and hit the dam in the arvo

Every other year I have fished for bass for about an hour, got what I thought would be enough and then looked for yella's for the next 6-7 hours every day.

Can get over the meter for the two days on the bass early, is that bloody GP that is my nemesis. (unless I am cod fishishing)

sh!t that may be the secret, I will go "looking for cod" after I get my bass and see what happens.  ;D

Phew!!! I'm glad to hear the fish are there as I found it really tough on the water this morning.  I only managed the one bass.   Though plenty of catfish in the shallows just baking in the sun  :-\

I have my tent site booked and tmw I shall sign up for the comp at Charlton's fishing.
Being my first Fishing competition I'm keen to meet other yakers and see how they pimp their rides.  I'm hoping to learn abit about yak fishing and fishing the rivers and Big W while there too.

Can't wait BJM

I'm still surprized there's so much focus on the Junction Hole of the river. There's fish getting caught further downstream and less crowds if you were to do the Tiwn Bridges to Savages OR Savages to Burtons Bridge shuttle.

Entires can be completed on friday night (14 Sept) at the comp, Captain Logan Camp.
