Good to see, how many went in?
I think we run a couple of thousand when we do the Woodford weir.

In that lot 1500.

Did 12 000 more on the weekend but lost a few in transport unfortunately.

Lowood area...

Map below shows the first several kms of Lockyer Creek upstream of O'Rielly's Weir. Where the fish go after release is up to them.

Currently, MRC are totally protected there so it is illegal to target them.

Yes but, if swfsa doesn't stock it. Who will?
The qld government?

Something had to be done and its a good start with what swfsa having decided on doing.

I understand where you are coming from Dale, but if we don't start somewhere nothing will ever change. I would love to see MRC become self sustaining in our local waterways & be allowed to target them. As Dave said if we don't get the ball rolling we could be waiting a long time.

Cheers Andrew

Just informing people Dave, settle down.  No point people thinking SWFSA are stocking them so we can fish for them.  You guys can target them all you like, but it is illegal and will remain so until the laws change.  Hopefully those targeting them where they are protected will eventually get caught and people will learn.

Mary River Cod are not native to the system, so it's a second best scenario.  The reasons Mary River Cod are on the endangered list have not been addressed so again, Stocking is not the sole answer.
You both saw my hand go up at the vote last month to support the stocking so I'm not sure why you feel I need to be treated as if I'm opposed to it.  I will repeat, it is illegal to target them in Lockyer Creek and probably will be for the next 10 years.  People need to be aware of that.
