Title: riverlink bass tonight
Post by: wesfish on April 21, 2012, 09:28:17 PM
decided to brave the rocks and rapids in the tinnie this arvo, we negotiated our way up to brassall bridge and started work the area over with timber hardbodies made by Ian Salmon, mick was goin well with the better bass in the 30-40s range, had a chat with fitzy while we continued to get a few bass. had to leave earlier then planned and this is when my tinnie became a yak and we made the journey down the river on dead low  :)) it was a fun adventure while we lowered the tinnie down the rapids with ropes and paddled it over all the shallows, on a plus side most of the moss covered rocks felt like carpet under the feet , as we got down to the last lot of rock bars near riverlink we had to drag the boat over the rock bars that had about 3 inches of water flowing over them. the flow of water helps the boat along over these areas it just required gettin us out and slid it over.
As we motored down to the pedestrian bridge we passed a strong light pool on the water with the sounds of boofing bass every where in the light. we managed 4 smallish bass from here in 5 mins. at long last i gave riverlink a go for bass and they are fairly thick there as well.. the was alot of caution taken using the boat in this area on low tide, just idle along and observe the water ahead . high tide is the only real option for safer navigation  :) i now have an idea of structure and a path through the boulder maze on a run down the river but would never attempt getting up on low..
