Keen Dubbo Murray Cod fishermen Michael Coad, Neil Duncan, Brett Kleppe Daniel Withers and I recently visited the mighty Lake Mulwala, where we managed to catch 14 Murray Cod for our week’s fishing. I was also lucky enough to come across my biggest Murray Cod to date, measuring 104cm with an estimated weight of around 50lbs. The fish slammed a ½ ounce bassman spinnerbait on the cast, just as darkness fell behind a glowing full moon, and will long live in our memories as a monster cod from the depths of the Ovens River above Lake Mulwala!

Well done Matt :youbeauty I reckon you'd be still smiling!

Nice fish Matt, was that one around Camerons, or further down? My home stomping ground down there.

Could almost see the junction casting the opposite side to which the houses are.
We turned right off the boat ramp at bundalong, headed up the ovens a bit.... and started casting. Can't wait to go back that's for sure. Water clarity was appauling but I must have just got lucky and spun one past its beak! Matt

Water clarity is always a bit iffy but the Cod get used to it. There is a big fish upstream a few k's that I dropped a coupe of years ago. I hope he's still waiting for me. There's a cut through near where you were called Punt Creek. It goes across from the Ovens to the Murray. My father got a 72lber there when I was a kid. Trolled it on a Flopy.

Dale,
I now know where you are describing! Great looking water there! Fished it hard during our stay. Can't wait to return, Matt
