The Pet and Guide dams to remain open to fishing
Tasmania Inland Fisheries Services

Cradle Mountain Water have been made aware of advice circulating in the community that access for fishing at the Guide and Pet Dams had altered, this is simply not the case.  Cradle Mountain Water confirms fishing from the dam shores for rainbow and brown trout during the designated fishing season continues unchanged.

The rules for access to both dams and the behaviour from visitors while fishing are the same from previous years.  It has always been the case that water craft are not permitted on either dam.

Cradle Mountain Water is currently working with the Inland Fisheries Service to update the signage for both dams and it is expected that the new Pet Dam signs will be erected in the next few weeks.  The signs reinforce behavioural  expectations, rules for fishing, licence requirements, angling methods and bag limits.

Cradle Mountain Water is very supportive of recreational pursuits balanced against compliance with public health and environmental requirements.

Your sincerely,
