Flow advice: Mitta Mitta River – Harmony releases to continue

03 January 2014

"Harmony" releases continue during January

The release from Dartmouth Reservoir will be increased on Monday morning, January 6 from the current flow of 4,000ML/day at Colemans (gauge height 2.05m) to 6,000ML/day (gauge height 2.35m).

Landholders and river users, including pumpers, should take into account the varying flows along the Mitta Mitta River and make any necessary adjustments to their river activities.

Releases are likely to remain at about 6,000ML/day for about one week before being gradually reduced to about 4,000ML/day by early February.

The flow at Tallandoon is now about 4,100ML/day (2.45m gauge height). Current forecasts, assuming dry conditions, indicate that with these higher releases the flow at Tallandoon is likely increase to about 6,000ML/day (2.75m gauge height) late on January 6.

Dartmouth Reservoir is currently storing 3,680GL (96 percent capacity). These harmony releases from Dartmouth to Hume Reservoir provide additional flood mitigation capacity at Dartmouth Reservoir for the coming winter and spring without affecting the security of supply to downstream water users.

A further flow advice will be issued if these forecasts change significantly.
