Searching for the Mary Cod
« on: February 04, 2011, 04:56:29 PM »
Made the first attempt to get down to the river today. What a job !

Road is washed out, spent half a day cutting timber and laying it into a causeway.
Up the hill to find it has eroded and will require a good half a day to smooth this out to make it driveable.  Shovel and crowbar.  I am too old for this.

Walked down to the river to find it has been rearranged, only a few of the old snags showing but quite a few new ones. Looks yackable still.

I was told recently that a flood like these we have had, triggers the breeding in the Murray cod, I guess it is the same with the Mary Cod.

Looking foreward to this.  Will give it my best shot.

Regards Gordon

Mate Ken was up there fishing on Sunday arvo, plenty of bass on surface lures, he reckon lots of big changes, water level marked by debris in the trees is the highest he has ever seen.

Managed to lift some of the usual gang, Jew fish, a small Bass then probably the prettiest Golden Perch I have seen.

Fighting the current has run some of the fat off him I guess.  Finally a giant of a Bass, 50 cm, I thought they only grew them like that in Wivenhoe.  No Cod so far.

Have to learn how to add photographs to this site.

Could someone please run through the steps required to place photos on this site.
I already have some shots of small fish I should probably try to identify.

We just run a normal PC and the camera takes 4 Meg photos.  Should I load them on at 4 Meg to help in identifying ?

Gordon,
I would suggest using a Photo editor to resize your pic downloaded from the camera. There are a number of free ones available online or maybe there's one in you camera software.

attach the resized picture in you post using the attach option below the message window
