Title: Wivenhoe Redclaw
Post by: Sweetwater on January 10, 2012, 10:16:36 AM
Took Flic to Wivenhoe last night to test out a new Pyramid crayfish trap I got from Charltons.

Used a combination of traps between the 2 of us for 2 hours. Traps used were 1 x new pyramid, 3 x opera house & 4 a collapsible shrimp traps.

Sat & waited the coupls of hours & did some spotlighting of tilapia & gambusia in a hand net (all vermin caught were destroyed)

Ended up with around 15 small to average redclaw with only one real nice one. Mind you we were at Kipper Creek area which gets a flogging daily so getting any there was good.

Also worth noting is the number of shrimp & long arm prawns spotted in the water & got some nice ones in the shrimp traps as well.

Will post some pics tonight. Below is a quick video of the new Pyramid Cray Trap shot from phone & emailed to video [at] sweetwaterfishing.com.au which will automatically load it into youtube.

Saw a bloke using them (the pyramid traps) at North Pine, seemed to be catching a few. Did tell me there was something he didn't like about them, but cant remember what it was for the life of me! wasn't a show stopper anyway.
