Title: Lake Wivenhoe Reports
Post by: Sweetwater on August 26, 2012, 09:06:19 PM
Working at the Brisbane Boat Show this past weekend I spoke to alot of people about fishing.  :tick

I had several reports of good bass being caught in Wivenhoe from the past 2 weeks, a couple of them were very positive.

1- Bass upto 47cm caught from mid water out from Platypus Cliff. Fish suspended in the river channel caught on shallow diving lures.

2- Some fat bass to 50cm caught from the mouth of Logans Inlet.

3- Bass caught off the point 50m from the boat ramp in Logans Inlet.

4- 14 bass caught in river bed approx half way from Platypus Cliff to the Horse Paddock.

IMHO if they're catching bass off the point at the boat ramp and at the mouth of logan's, there will be bass off the point in front of Lumley Hill.

Also, I saw some half ok shows suspended in the river bed a couple of weeks ago. This supports the report from Platypus Cliff area. IMHO a trolled lure is the easiest way to target these fish.

It may be late......but its definately improving. Just in time for the Wivenhoe Convention too  :youbeauty

I concur Fitz, the dam is hotting up. I'm setting off from Hamons in the morning for a look...

Cheers

 :GoodPost)

I've had bugger all time on Wivenhoe this season, but I'd be giving the points at the mouth of Hamon Cove a good work over. I recon there's probably too much water over the top of Grasscutter Hill but you never know.....could be something there....

I had a play between Billies and Platypus on Saturday.  No fish but a nice day.  Made a new friend on the drive out.

Launched from Kipper Creek Sunday morn. Got a good hit along the steep banks on the left as you come out into Billies Bay. Hooks pulled. But that was it. Anyone had any luck in that general area of late?

Hamon Cove is a waste of time, there was a bit of breeze there this morning, no Bass caught between two of us, Paul caught a cat and I got two as well.  Lots of nothing up there on the sounder. I might go back to Logans tomorrow and give it a decent workout, there seems to be way more fish down that way. Saw a few hundred Pelicans working the masses of bait fish today, they were into them.
