How is Cania fishing?
« on: March 23, 2012, 09:05:51 PM »
G'day everyone, just stumbled upon this site a few days ago.

Thought I sign up and say hello.

Not to mention, to just ask something that has been bothering me lately.

I'm planning on doing another trip to Cania sometime this year, could be sooner rather than later.

It's hard to get a good understanding on how it's fishing, as I'm hearing lots of stories that just contradict one another.

Any recent experiences would be mint.

Cheers lads.

My wifes been bugging me to take her and the kids camping to Cania Gorge, but now that I know theres fish there, I'm interested all of a sudden ;D

Whats the story with this place?? I've only recently moved to Gladstone.

You camp there and put your boat in nearby?? Or is it just fishing from the bank?
What species of fish are we talking about too, and are there any redclaw in there?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks

Great place to take the kids, lots of good walks & scenery. Both camping spots are great. There is areas to bank fish, but a boat would be advantageous. The dam is stocked with Bass, Golden Perch, Silver Perch & Saratoga. Also some great 4WD tracks.

Cheers Andrew

Sounds like a real adventure. How far away is it from Gladdy, I'm guessing to head out past Biloela.
This might show how little I know about fishing but I thought Bass were only found overseas. Like the American version of our Barra. Sounds like fun anyway. I'll have to plan to get out there one weekend.
