Advice needed on how to ship lures!
« on: March 05, 2014, 02:13:22 AM »
Hi guys!
I'm currently based in Singapore and i'm thinking of letting a couple of my lures go. (yes i brought them with me to Singapore!) But i've really no use for them here.
I'm thinking of letting go a few of the plopply's by peter newell, but i'm unsure of how to ship them back to Australia. I was thinking of shipping them back in a box but its really expensive to do so from here.
Will mailing it back in an envelope with bubble wrap be fine?
I really want it to be in the best condition when it reaches back to Australia.
ANy ideas?

Cheers!

Speaking as a collector, I (and many other collectors) regard the minimum packaging to be the following....
Cardboard between the hooks and the lure to stop hook scratches and pricks, wrapped in bubble wrap or nested in packing peanuts in a sturdy cardboard box.

If I am investing good money in a valuable lure, I expect it to be the same condition on arrival, as seen in the pictures shown when initial purchase is made.

Yep fair enough brad, when they are rare, collectable or expensive lures.
The things I can afford are like $1 each so bubble wrapped in an envelope is cool for those.

Easiest way is a length of cardboard folded around the belly of the lure between the belly hook eye and tail hook eye, lay the treble hooks towards each other, use a twist tie or rubberbands wrapped around the uppermost hooks.

That will hold the cardboard bewteen the hooks and the lure. then wrap the whole lot in bubble and tape securely. Then in a mailing box with more bubble or packing peanuts.
