Title: Black Peril NPD.

Noticed a huge increase in the numbers the last few weeks.

peeled shrimp.Hope we have a cold winter to kill them all off as they seem to be all over the dam.

If you are noticing a dramatic increase in adult fish then you really have to look back at conditions a year or two ago that obviously allowed good breeding conditions.

I reckon that all the bass that were munching the juveniles went over the wall a year ago.

Ray, the Derm will issue a permit to have a Talapia busting weekend if necessary and I am sure you could round up a lot of helpers from various clubs.

Gordon, its SEQ water that are the problem, we cant do tilapia busts any more as they require liability insurance for any organised event.

SEQ water are a pain to organize an event with as they require a copy of your indeminity insurance,an estimate of number of people attending. traffic management and parking plan etc,etc.
When it was under Pine Rivers shire it was a lot easier with council very cooperative even to the extent of mowing area and providing rubbish bins to dispose of the fish.
 Only way you could do it without a great hassle is to just have a gathering of people who suddenly decide to go picnicking and fishing on a certain day.

Went back to NPD on sunday and could only catch 1 tilapia and noticed the water temp was down .
 Back there again on Monday and lost count at 70 adult tilapia floating on the surface in the bay and they were also every few feet around the edges.
 Contacted SEQ water and they seem to think that the kill is a result of cold water influx into that bay as there were no dead fish floating in other areas of the dam that I visited.
 There only seemed to be fish over 30cm affected and there was no obvious sign of injury such as cut throats etc.
 According to catch cards there were only 3 tilapia caught on Monday but the bass are making a comeback.
