Title: Borumba ramp improvements.
Post by: rayke1938 on October 26, 2016, 01:43:17 PM
After a visit  to Borumba dam 2 weeks ago I wrote to SEQ water and Gympie council about a couple of problems.

I have just heard back from SEQ water and the offending sign beside the ramp is in the process of being removed.

There is going to be a dedicated disabled parking bay provided in the lower car park and compliance officers will also closely monitor the use of the short term parking area.

Good outcome thank you SEQ water for a quick response.

Cheers

Ray

What did you write to them about Ray?

The ridiculous location of the warning sign that warned of steep drop off at the end of the ramp. The location of the sign made it difficult/dangerous  to move your boat to the holding area beside the ramp.
The parking land adjacent to the ramp is signed short trem parking with no definition of what a short term is and as a result it is used for all day parking.
They have not answered my question of how long is short term>
I also asked for a designated disabled parking bay to be provided on the lower level car park.
This will be provided.
A lot of people were complaining about the location of the sign but apparently no one had brought it to the attention of the council and SEQ water.
Compliance officers will be patrolling the parking areas in busy times to ensure that people are doing the right thing.
Cheers

That's great Ray. I did hear it mentioned by a couple of others that the sign was handy spot to tie your boat off to while retrieving your trailer, save the boat hitting the bottom I guess. Owners of glass boats?

I don't know, have't been there since the new ramp was finished.

Thanks for the info.  :thumbsup

It was handy to tie off to but near impossible to work your boat around it if you did not want to block the ramp for others, Water was 3 ft deep beside sign.

Thanks Ray
A disabled parking bay would be good, was at the dam the weekend of Bass electrics, ramp was busy no way you could tie up to sign and get car as some one would be waiting to back down the left ramp, and as you said its hard walking the boat on your own around the sign in deep water, will be glad to see sign moved

i was back there wed with my kayak and i parked at the short term parking even though i was way up the back block and was away 7 hrs, as there is no time Definition on signs it would be hard to police, mind you i only use that area mid week when its pretty quiet, there was a trailer with racks for a stack of canoes chained to fence in short term area it was there a few days and nights waiting for kids to return from back of dam camping with canoes i think they were from a Brisbane School

They need to give a time on the signs, when water levels drops below the end of new ramp it will be fun launching
