Good Friday Bush Bash 2012
« on: April 06, 2012, 07:34:13 PM »
Here's a snippet of this years Good Friday Bush Bash, chasing Wild Bass with neighbours Mark and Tim. It was their first time chasing Wild Bass and an experience I reckon they won't forget for some time.

A few nice Bass got caught, but I think it was the whole experience that caught these boys, rather than the fish. I think I've converted a couple more to try there luck more often in the sweetwater stuff.  :youbeauty

Cheers Dave

Looks like a good day out Dave and congrats on a couple of converts, not to mention the fish. Love that wild river fishing.

Thanks fella's, the water is still a bit dirty and I reckon the fish were still a bit lure shy from the recent rain events we suffered up here a fortnight ago. Give it another week or so and I reckon it'll fish better. This goes for other creeks within the region, Mooloolah, Coochin and Mellum Ck, just to name a few.

Cool, you should team up with Ken, he loves walking the wild scrub for fish.
My dodgy knees wont let me do it any more.

One hint for you, Ken carries a personal EPIRB these days when doing any scrub bashing. Cheap insurance, as well as got his missus off his back about wandering around all the back blocks..

A real jungle adventure for the new bass converts - great photo of the guy on the palm trunks . The little lake near home yielded it's first bass since the floods yesterday morning on fly as well as a few more hits although only small fish in the 20's. I cast my first flies to Longtail Tuna this morning off Old Woman Island so bit of a contrast to the quiet little lake - no hookups to the Tuna though a few issues with fly line management, wind and swell didn't help but was still a buzz. Estimated 80 cm fish were leaping clear of the water 30 feet from the boat as they took bait off the surface. Bar any more rain events we may get another decent shot at the bass locally and have plans to fish up at Borumba before it cools down. Cheers Pat.
