Title: Tilapia.............What Tilapia!!!
Post by: maverick76 on September 28, 2010, 02:10:21 PM
 Good Afternoon,

Took the kids down to Mungarra reserve behind the Petrie on Pine estate this afternoon with the intention of giving the kids a good time and erradicate some Tilapia at the same time.  Thats where it all went not so according to plan.  Plenty of bites and a couple of turtles later and the lovely wife says: "I'm on"  Me: "Sure darl good stuff pull it in" (thinking another turtle) only to be pleasantly surprised with the following fish.

Regards
Colin

Continued:

We battled on for another hour only to be caught out by mother nature with a heavy shower saturating the kids and generally driving everyone insane.  But I have promised the kids that we will return on Saturday for another crack at the erradication games!!!

Regards
Colin.

Maybe this will convince Belinda that we need a Yak and explore some more waterways!!!  or atleast an elecy for the Tinnie ;)

The old spangled perch fight well for their weight, very aggressive, will take lures bigger than they are, great fish for kids.

Thats one healthy looking Spangle, Colin  8)
I love em, and agree they punch way above their weight, can you imagine if they grew to the same size as Bass  :o  ;D

Cheers Brad

Thanks Binder and Brad!!

She was a very health specimen and a great fight (wifes opinion) I would love to see one at around the 1.5kg range it would be an awesome battle!!!  Will head back with the kids again on Saturday and hopefully pluck some of those Tilapia out and give the other species a chance.  The Tilapia in that pond are huge both in numbers and size.  I saw some cracking fish in there estimated around the 500-700g mark. Anyways thanks again for your comments  :D

Colin

Thanks Fitz,

Going to be introducing some friends and their children to the sweetwater side of fishing over the coming months. Given those ponds are so child friendly I figure I will throw 'em back and let the kids have a crack in the future  :youbeauty

Thanks again
Colin
