Have been giving my local a miss for most of October , but have had a couple of quick sessions down there of late.
Last weekend , Alison and I decided to paddle up Lockyer Creek to see whats doing in there . Buggerall flow , very warm murky water , plenty of baitfish movement and OODLES of Fork tailed Catfish . Was fun until an accident occurred and the wife's curado baitcaster disappeared to the bottom . Still the catties were on the chew while trying to recover the rod , with a spinnerbait attached to the end of her rod , my guess is the cartties have taken off with it .
With today being soo hot , we left it until 4.30pm to launch and drifted downstream. Only went as far as the first lot of sticks that are out in the middle ( about 500 metres downstream) . Fished until dark , mainly using spinnerbaits , ended up with 9 Bass and 1 yella myself , Alison accounted for 7 Bass .
To wrap up , not a lot has changed in this reach of the river since the opening of the season . Still plenty there and most are still in good nick . Had a half hearted flick with some surface lures as it got dark , had a few hits but no hookups .

With the prospect of the river becoming off limits later this week , motivation to get a bass fix has set in. Wesfish and I hit heart attack hill again this evening . I launched a little after 5pm , Wes was already on the river.

While we had good light , I used spinerbaits , Wes was chopping and changing between vibes and hardbodies . Both of us landed plenty of Bass.

Once darkness fell , I put on a River2sea Cicada pop55 , Wes changed over to surface lures too.

As the evening went on , Wes tried one of his jointed sub surface lures and got smashed by a fat Bass.
