Where is that info supplied from? No press releases or updates about this from SEQWater. Is it a council road closure?

Cheers,

fitz..

Recreation Update (Wednesday, 19 January 08.00am)
Due to the recent inflows of water into lakes in South East Queensland, most Seqwater sites remain closed for various reasons relating to the flood event. There are high risks of debris and high risks of potential water quality issues in the lakes at this time.

Public safety is one of our prime concerns, and recreation sites will be re-opened as soon as it is practical and safe to do so.

Seqwater will assess the conditions at each lake before deciding whether to re-open each lake to on-water recreation activities. Please check the specific page for each of the lakes for further information.

All recreation sites at Lake Somerset and Lake Wivenhoe (including the Spillway Lookout recreation area at Lake Wivenhoe) will remain closed until further notice. Until further notice, the Lake Wivenhoe Information Centre will also be closed to the public.

Hi All,

As of yesterday 0900  (Tuesday) SEQWater in Brisbane stated that it could be three days or three weeks until the Dam is open for boating again.

They also stated that they will be doing more water quality checks today (Wednesday) and will await for the results.

Back in December 2009 and March 2010, Borumba Dam encountered moderate to heavy flooding with out any clousers or any type of water contamination etc etc.

So what has this years flood mitigation program by releasing extra surplus waters to the Mary River justify the closure of the whole dam to all aquatic sports when it has never happened before.                                               (Please excuse my spelling mistakes.)

Is this a case of someone in a Brisbane office trying to justify there job without even knowing where Borumba Dam is and the massive impact it has had on all small business that rely on the Fishing, Boating and Camping enthusists in the Mary Valley. Just about time for all of us to close up our shops, beuoctricty has let us down.

Good stuff Graeme.  Just need to get the Imbil bridge fixed to avoid the long way around for those coming from the north.  According to the council, they are on to it, but couldn't give a time.

Hey Steve, does that mean coming up thru Maleny/Kenillworth way from Brissy?

Brian

The bridge which links Imbil to the main way to Gympie has been damaged in the floods.  Coming from Kenilworth, you will come into Imbil from the southern entry which is fine.  As you would head into Imbil from that route, there is a bridge off to the right which crosses Yabba creek.  This is the one that is damaged/closed.

Also worth mentioning that a few of the yabba crossings are knocked around a bit.  They were patched by local farmers awaiting council to get to them.  Council were saying that they would be getting to them soon, but I don't know when that is as they have a bit on.  I would suggest that anyone heading to Borumba just be extra watchful and drive accordingly.

Perhaps Graeme can give a better update.

Steve

Amongst all the rain, flooding, closures and everything else that has been happening lately, how has the dam been fishing for Toga and bass over the holiday period when you could get on the water? Fish shut down Graeme?

Randall.
