Fishing Report

Thursday 15th April, 2011



COOBY DAM
Cooby is still a bit quiet, but there has been a few Jew, Silver Perch and Yellowbelly on bait and lures, with the best bait being, live shrimp, live worms and saltwater yabbies.

CRESSBROOK DAM
Fishing is slowly improving as the dam continues to settle, so there have been a few Bass caught on the edges, mainly on the points in the dam, and still good catches of Redclaw.

LAKE SOMERSET
The dam is starting to settle, and there continues to be some small catches of Bass caught trawling and casting lures around the Pelican Point area of the dam, and there have been plenty of Redclaw caught throughout the dam.

LAKE BOONDOOMA
The water is starting to settle, and the Yellowbelly are starting to bite, mainly on bait in the back reaches of the Boyne and Stuart arms of the dam and also on the points in the main bay, still worth a try with spinnerbaits in these same areas for the lure anglers. As the weather starts to cool the Redclaw are slowing down.

LAKE BARAMBAH (BJELKE PETERSON DAM)
The back reaches of the dam are settling quicker than the main bay, with a few Yellowbelly and Bass up to 45cm taken in these areas mainly on bait, but it is still worth a try on the flats and points in the main part of the dam. It is also worth a try with Spinnerbaits in the back reaches. There are still a few Redclaw being caught.

ST. GEORGE
There are reports of good Yellowbelly, and also a few Cod  being caught on the township side of Beardmore Dam, with plenty of Carp still being caught.

LESLIE DAM
 Leslie Dam is still producing plenty of nice Yellowbelly around the 40cm mark, and there has also been a few Cod just over the 60cm mark being caught on lures and bait, with a lot of people getting their bag limit very easily.

TEXAS
The river near town is still a bit quiet, however there have been a few Cod taken in the Dumeresque River near Texas and downstream of the township there have been a few Yellowbelly caught.

GOONDIWINDI
The Mcintyre River downstream of the Boggabilla Weir has produced some nice Yellowbelly and a couple of quality Cod with the biggest weighing in at 44lb. Around the town reaches there have been a few Yellowbelly caught mainly on bait and lures.

GLENLYON DAM
Still plenty of Yellowbelly, Silver Perch and Jew being caught on lures and bait, There have also been plenty of undersize Cod caught and released, with a few  around the 65cm mark, best times of day are early morning and late afternoon.

CALOUNDRA
Offshore, Long Tail Tuna at Brays Rock, Spanish Mackerell at 12 Mile Reef, Grassy Sweetlip and Snapper at 3 Mile Reef. Inshore there have been some Bream, Whiting and Flathead at Bulcock Beach, Whiting around the Power Boat Club and a few Bream at Military Jetty.

MAROOCHYDORE
A few Cobia, Wahoo and Coral Trout offshore, inshore, there have been some good numbers of Flathead, Whiting, Bream, Moses Perch and Estuary Cod caught throughout the estuary’s and a few Whiting and Dart off the beaches.

NOOSA
Offshore fishing has produced a mixed bag of reef fish at Sunshine Reef and Pelagics in the bay, inshore fishing has produced some big Mangrove Jacks, Taylor, Flathead and Trevelly throughout the river, with plenty of Jew in the river mouth.

TWEED
Offshore, Wahoo at 9 Mile Reef and Snapper at Fido Reef, inshore Whiting and Flathead from the river mouth to the middle reaches and School Jew around the headlands at Hastings and Cabarita.

SOUTHPORT
Offshore, a few Spanish and Spotty Mackerell from Jumpinpin through to Palm Beach on trawled lures early morning, inshore, Trevelly, Taylor and Jew in the Seaway, Whiting around the Council Chambers in the Nerang River as well as the Pimpama and Coomera Rivers, and Sandcrabs throughout the Braodwater.
