We better brace ourselves.

I just read this comment from a reader of Brisbanetimes.com.au
Quote
Lets see, councils approve buildings in these areas, are they held responsible?
Developers build houses there, are they held responsible?
Campbell Newman orders the release of water, to add to existing water levels with more water coming down, will he be responsible?
What happens when the water from Bundaberg gets here?
How can the LNP rebuild infrastructure, when they have sacked those that would do the work? Outsourcing perhaps, which may end up costing more, then what, sell off the powerstations to fund part of the rebuild, while we wait on more cyclones that can happen this year?

I'm sorry but "What happens when the water from Bundaberg gets here?"  WTF are these people on?

You looked at a map lately, things are gunna be poo.

Has to head into Maryborough, Gypie (what was their flood level?20 odd meters) so when it gets to us its going to be like , like , like a like 50 plus meter flood.

Sounds like a tongue in cheek poke to me.

At least the chicken littles in the council were wrong about flooding today being higher again in local creeks in Brisbane - At work the creek didn't even break its banks. Went over by 1.5m Sunday night.

Also good news, the water on Sunday night only got to the earth bars in the main switch board, in 2009 it was 4 inches deeper and it fried it big time, cost over 100k to repair it. Just got to wait for energex to fix their transformer now and we can fire up again.

...........so according to one tv reporter, the water in Bundaberg was going at 45 knots, which roughly equals 80kph.

Knowing that water will try to flow in a straight line, it's approxinately 300km in a straight line from Bundaberg to Brisbane it should take about 3:45 hours

Or, if the flood water takes the Bruce Highway it will be about 370km which will take around 4 hours 40 mins. BUT if the flood water follows the speed limit all the way it should take 4 hours 11 minutes

It all makes sense now.................  :walkplank

Just Heard Campbell Newman on the radio saying that the muddy water from the Bremer River is clogging up the filters at Mt Crosby water treatment plant.

Now water can go down the Bremer, turn upstream into the Brisbane R, go up and over the Mt Crosby weir.
