Title: Trout ranges nsw?
Post by: bushwacker on November 09, 2011, 09:13:04 PM
I am starting to get a bit of an itch to do some trout fly fishing and was making plans to head down to victoria when a fairly well known fly fisher tells me that trout are nearly up to the qld nsw border  at certain altitudes.

Can anyone point me in the best direction for finding trout in the Upper nsw area ?

Waving the wand is starting to fill a fair amount of my fishing time now, I find it very rewarding.

Check out my Ebor post - thats onlyan hour and half up the hill behind Grafton! - Not big fish (though there are some there) but nice country and fun - take your woolies tho, my kids reckon it was 'like driving to New Zealand" LOL

Bushwacker,
There are plenty of trout here in Glen Innes, both rainbows and browns. There were brook trout released years ago in a stream east of Glen but I haven't heard of any catches

Bushwacker- the upper deepwater is closest reliable trout to Brisbane. Browns and rainbows but Ebor shits on it for numbers of fish and variety of water IMO. Worth the drive.
