Title: Results on Big Bass?
Post by: BG on November 05, 2011, 12:51:49 PM
Fellas, I have been out of town and out of touch for quite a while could some one let me know what the results were on the hunt for the largest Bass.

I guess the largest impoundment or overflow Bass is what I would love to hear the final results of.

Gordon,

Plenty of stories out there of Unicorns ( 60cm + Bass ) , but still not a picture of one these brutes on a measuring device of some kind . Latest story I have heard is of a 62cm being caught in the Bremer . Still plenty of big Bass in the reach of the Brisbane river from the dam to the log jam at Harpeng Road. Downstream of that log jam to twinnys, savages and burtons crossing , the bass are there but not in as good condition or numbers.

As for myself , I'm still stuck on 58cm from back in May .

Cheers,
Dave.

58 Boy that's getting close. I will have to look at my notes but I think by best was a few over 50 and I was sure I had a Cod on by the weight and fight.

Thanks for that.

A year ago, Dave would have been one of a very, very select few to have caught a 58cm Bass.  We've been told that they are now common place in the rivers and lakes.  All I have to say to that is Bullshit!  A 58cm Bass is an awesome capture.  I'm still pretty convinced that a 60cm fish will not appear.  We've had all sorts of attempts at calling a fish 60cm, but really some have been pitiful.  Be proud of that fish Dave, it may never happen again.

A year ago Dale ( before the Wivenhoe releases ) , I would have been over the moon to get a Bass at 40cm from Shines Rd ,  and there were many a session where I came home on a donut . I've just been very lucky to live nearby at this time .
