Title: New to the forum!
Post by: UBK on April 14, 2011, 08:53:12 PM
Hi all, just thought I would introduce myself! My name is Ben, I live in Ipswich and have not long discovered fishing at Colleges Crossing. I also have not long started in the world of lures and plastics. Basically I joined to learn more about chasing bass around my local area and any other species as I'm new to the fresh water side too. Being land based is a hindrance but in time I will buy a yak :) I also have a tinny I am fixing up that my grandfather gave me.  Anyhow I look forward to learning and hopefully sharing my adventures! :)
Cheers Ben

G'Day Ben,

Welcome aboard mate. Around Ippy there's plenty of sweetwater fishing to be had. You're already onto Colleges Crossing, at the same spot there you can get bass, tarpon, mullet, gar, powertails (catfish) & bull sharks regularly & in dryer times you often get flathead, bream & even the odd whiting. Plenty of bass getting caught right through the Brisbane River right now (it's just had its biggest restocking in a decade)

Also go check out the Bremer River. You can catch good fish from the tidal water at the Junction right up into the skinny sweetwater sections. Also don't discount the Bremer's feeder creeks, Bundamba Creek, Warrill Creek etc

Have fun & let us know how you go.

Fitzy..

Yeah i would have never given the Bremer or Brisbane river any credit, but from what I have read, I am glad I have them close by! Now I just have to work on catching them :)
Cheers Ben!
