I'm not sure why they're dropping It further.  I dropped in for a look today and its very low.  The river in Ashford is just about in flood and Bonshaw weir is roaring!

My guess would be that the irrigators are screaming for water in this heat we've been having.
You know it's been hot for a long time when you consider 34C a nice cool day.

Ok

lets get this straight

Glenlyon - damed at the bottom of Pike Creek. Drops into the Dumaresq. Just upstream from this lets say 10km the Dumaresq is made up from the inflows of Tenterfield Creek and Severn River(Qld One)

This flows down stream approx 150 km downstream to Goondiwindi. Along the way it gets feed by the Mole River, Reedy Creek, Beardy River, Little Oakey Creek, Macintyre Brook and just before Gundy the Macintire River Itself

Pindari -  Damed the bottom side of the Severn (NSW one) and flows towards Ashford for 20km It gets met by Fraser / Frazers Creek just outside of town, it flows for about 30km to the gorge where it meets and becomes the Macintire River. This then flows approx 120km where it meets the Dumresq and remains the Macintire.

The Macintire then flows westward till it becomes the Barwon.

Now these two dams are dropping a heap of water. I can understand that they may need to but with what is comming out and teh inflows you would swear that the Macintire is dry in gundy.

Why the hell would you be 1 foot over the road at Cunningham's Weir? Why just under the road bridge at Ashford?

That is what I dont understand, why so much so fast?

So in my best Pauline " Please Explain"

Can vouch for a LOT of water flowing from the dam - kayaked from Ashford  to the TSR about 14 km down stream on Saturday  - a huge difference compared to when I did it in about April last year.........and a lot colder with the water being discharged from the bottom of the dam.  Fishing not too good though managed a 750mm one , and both of us managed to get turned in the strong flow thru the trees..grrrr
Does anyone know when they will close off the flow?
Richard.
