Goodbye to Maroon's Camp Lakefire
« on: August 29, 2016, 01:46:11 PM »
We have spent many nights at Camp Lakefire over the years, sipping on some suds after a hard day’s fishing at Maroon Dam, and generally munching on a few redclaw at the same time. But Alas, that is all gone now. It appears the new management are trying to chase us scurvy fishermen away in favour of a more yuppie clientele. Some of the (shock horror) changes are:
•   Maximum 7 campsites at $120 a night for 2 people;
•   $25 per person per night for the kids
•   Boating Fee (what ramp?)
•   Portaloos gone, so it’s up the hill for you.
•   And worst of all. No shrimp. That’s right. No Shrimp.
One has to wonder who their business model advisors are. I can see it doomed to fail.

I think that Steve Wilkes is now based at Camp Qld at moogerah but there is no ramp there. The bluefin comp will be at moogerah but at a different venue with cabin accomodation for over 200 people plus camping and it has its own ramp.
Looks like Camp pointro at Maroon will be a bit busier now with the demise of Lakefire.
Cheers
Ray
