good evning ive noticed that depending on where u catch a fish depends how it looks colour , its shape , some of the dam cat fish are huge , some times u get differnt colour eeltails in differnt area s.

the top one looks light brown grey colour , im guessing to blend into its enviroment rock and sandy river bed, got that one at collages crosing , second one got at twin bridges darker green colour .and the third one got near the mouth of river, its an ocean cat fish ? i googled it and looks like indonesian catfish ,is that one more posionious ? because of the differnt colours? and the forth one fork tail cat fish , ive noticed the ones from dams are alot fatter and healthy looking , and finaly , didn t get a picture of this one but ,another guy caught an eeltail at logan s wivenhoe last time it was tan and light brown like a speckly parten .

well the answer i was looking for is there , found on google , a sting from the striped eeltail cat fish may be fatal

got heaps today fork tail catfish today , about 10 and 5 mullet , 2 turtels , and just before lunch curtis had a two metre lung fish on his line , he hooked his foot around a stump on the ground , the fish was bigger than he was , jumped out of the water like a dragon ,curtis had 15 pound braded line snaped it !!!! we decided that was enogh , and didn t want to catch a protected spieces , of course we let the turtles go.

That looks like Wulkaraka rail bridge in the back ground.... Correct?
Did you catch/hook a lungfish there???

not meaning to but ys it was on line with small hook and prawn , it never got near the bank snaped the line in a few seconds.

Is this near Brassall on the Bremer? If so I have seen a lungy there, all of 2 foot long maybe

Thanks for the info guys. Lungfish are not common in the Bremer. It's possible that they've ended up there after the floods like a lot of other things.

got a couple of eeltail cat fish at logans camping , we got a big talapia , countless grunters and a few fork tail cat fish and turtle .

The colours certainly vary amongst eel tails, but I dont think its linked to their location. Been catching the same pair in Baroon pocket for 18 months at my favourite bass bait spot for the kids, one is quite dark and one is quite light. If it was based on environment I would have figured one or the other would have changed colour by now!

Half a mini skip of dead catties that I helped clean up during the fishkill a couple of months back were all the same colour.........Big f*&^%% deal !!!
Seriously Joey, the Fork Tailed catfish that you keep flooding this forum with ( although native to the Brisbane and Bremer systems) are not considered a worthy catch. There are a nuisance and pest while targeting more sought after species.
If you want to catch loads of forkies, use lures with loud rattles or just continue using worms. But please , unless it is enormous and as long your leg , most people on this forum have seen enough of the dreaded Fork tailed Catfish.

Forkies are underated. Bit like Bull sharks in the rivers.
They are an excellent sportsfish for their size, and well worth targeting for a bit of fun.
When I was a kid we used to chase monsters in the Brisbane river with elcheapo kmart kids rods, see how many we could catch before we broke the rods!

BAhahaha, thats a great idea with the kmart rods. Did you many that broke on the first fish???

Jeez thats a bit harsh Dave, I like them wish they they grew as big as the N. midgleyi Dick gets over his way. Never dissapointed when a metre plus Netuma thallasina takes a lure intended for Jew in the rustwater.

From people that know what they are talking about by no means do i mean me but others on here....
All those "status" numbers and jargen on the left of the screen and post views mean didly squat to anyone in the real world.
on the other hand lets just overflood this catfish cr@p with proper reports of bass cod and other sweetwater fish that are well known for their angling and charm.
And to the nay sayers .....

im having trouble catching a prize fish , so were hading to the barra farm , sun coast barra park :Hunting) mega fish .

Nothing wrong with hooking up to some of those huge wivvy catties, they can really test you out, and you know when prepared correctly arent bad eating, also make great cat food, they love it
Always good for the kids to catch to

intresting , an albino maybe? what sort of enviroment did they catch that one? sandy river?
