Title: Baby Bass
Post by: elops on September 18, 2010, 08:53:23 PM
Over the last 6 weeks or so I have been collecting amphidromous gudgeons for a breeding project in a few different rivers and streams around the Brisbane area.
This is done by setting various types of funell traps, have had quite a few juvenile Bass in them from 35mm to 70mm which would be from this years recruitment, some in some surprising locations. This has been very pleasing to see, got the one pictured in a local stream this morning. A bit smaller than the usual pics of Bass posted but just as exiting as catching a big Bass to me.

cheers,
Steve.

ps not sure if this should have been posted in the reports section but did not know where to put it.

That is very encouraging news and hopefully we will be ablt to find bass in a lot of waters where they have not been seen for a long time.
Cheers
