Hey guys, did a run out to the Horse paddocks on the weekend at bigW, got a shot, not sure whether it was a stack of fish or just some interference. (Sorry about the crappy quality lol) The other shot seems like a couple of small bait balls, but I am pretty new to the sounding game, just wanted your opinions!
Couldn't find much in the way of bait balls either, mainly small and patchy with hardly any arches under them.

Depending on the scroll speed you have set, they could be Bass or they could be Forkies.

Still better than nothing showing. That first picture is what you are looking for though. When the bass really get thick , those lines can almost make the whole screen go black.
You're getting me keen to dust off the sounder again and hit Wivy. My current yak I haven't bothered installing it yet. It's that time of year again when Wivy glasses out and can fish at its best and most comfortable. Thanks for posting.
Cheers,
Dave.

a couple of questions.
- Is the Humminbird in dual beam mode? ie are both the 20 deg AND 60 deg turned on for those pics?
- What sort of speed were you doing when you took the screen shots?
And as Basser said, what do you have the scroll rate set at?

Hmm I will have to check the settings. I think the speed is around medium setting.
I was paddling but notvery fast, i was trolling at the time. As for the beam setting I am not sure, will have a Look when I get a chance and let ya know.
Thanks

Why i asked is....
A 60 degree beam angle will show a wider, deeper arch on the screen than a 20 degree beam setting.
The faster you are travelling, the faster the fish goes in & then out of the beam. Travel fast = narrow arch, travel slow = wider arch.
The scroll speed. Fast scroll speed will also give a wider arch on the screen.
Depending in the combination of settings and speed, the returns from the same fish can be displayed alot differently.
